Citizens State Bank maintains the highest quality of technological tools, data management controls and limited access and use policies to protect our private information.
We have taken steps to ensure that all of our customer’s information is adequately safeguarded. We have included the following:
- The implementation of a number of physical and electronic security features to prevent unauthorized access. These features include a 128-bit SSL encryption for personal internet banking use; an internal systems encryption; firewalls to block potential destructive information for entering our systems; digital certificates to protect your account information and your computer and 128-bit browser encryption technology.
- We have set limitations on our employees in accessing your information. Our employee policy specifically states all of their responsibilities in maintaining the confidentiality of customer

- We conduct annual reviews of our entire computer systems, which include its security features.
Part of our security features will depend on the role you play in protecting yourself from fraud. We ask you to adopt some basic practices in your due diligence to prevent any breach of your security. These practices should be:
- Guarding your password to protect your online account information. This password should be a combination of letters, numbers and symbols and should be changed on a regular basis – every 60 to 90 days. Short family names and birth dates are not a good idea for passwords. Longer combinations are the best bet for security.
- Remember to log-off internet banking and close your browser when you finish your transactions. This will prevent other from accessing your information and using it at a later time.
- Do not share your Internet Banking Customer ID or Password with anyone.
- Beware of the many Internet “phishing” scams that request information about you. Only provide information to web sights that you initiated
- Install protective services to your compute like firewall software and anti-virus programs. Upgrading these items often can help in the defense in computer data destruction.
- Do not open e-mail or attachments from unknown sources.

If you feel you are a victim of identity theft, (i.e., unauthorized transactions on bank statements or credit card usage, etc), you must act quickly to minimize the damage to your finances and your credit standing.
We ask you to following these steps:
- Call Citizens State Bank at 1-888-598-8900 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
- Contact any one of the three major credit bureaus and place a “fraud alert” on your accounts. Request a copy of your credit report which is free when you are calling to report a fraud on your account. Report any discrepancies to the credit bureaus in writing.
- Call the post office to report any mail tampering at your location.
- Call your credit card companies and close out old card and replace them with new card.
- Report all theft to the Federal Trade Commission by calling 877-ID-THEFT.
- Keep copies of all correspondence and conversations with individuals at your financial institutions, credit bureaus and other agencies.
